The Student Voice Festival of Ideas is an event by students, for students. The Brisbane Catholic Education (BCE) initiative inspires students to discuss issues that are relevant to them and develop action plans to improve their schooling. We were commissioned by the BCE Student Voice Project Team to develop a series of videos to promote the program and capture the Festival of Ideas event.
The key objective of the campaign was to inspire students to actually take action and make change. As a result, we not only had to promote the Festival of Ideas event but encourage students to actively take part. Our solution was to develop a series of videos that could be used by BCE in the lead up to and following the Festival of Ideas event. They were tailored to appeal to a wide range of target audiences including students, parents, teachers and the BCE executive. We worked in close collaboration with the BCE Student Voice Project Team to develop key messages for the videos, identify spokespeople and fine tune the overall story narrative.
The content we created included: short social media videos, presented by students, highlighting the different priority areas to be discussed at the Festival of Ideas; an explainer video discussing the purpose of the Festival of Ideas and the role Student Voice plays; a short documentary style video of the Festival of Ideas event with first-hand insights from student delegates; and a social media highlights video of the Festival of Ideas event.
This project proves that when given the opportunity, students have a lot to say about how their schools can be improved. For more information on Student Voice, visit the BCE website.
"We really appreciate your insights. We appreciate your wisdom that comes from your context, not ours. And that's really important to our work at Brisbane Catholic Education, so that you can be the best that you can be."
